Suriname dominated El Salvador with a 4-0 victory, significantly boosting their chances of qualifying for their first-ever World Cup, while El Salvador's hopes are all but extinguished.

Suriname's national team defeated El Salvador 4-0 in the fifth round of the CONCACAF World Cup 2026 qualifiers. This match marked the end of El Salvador's hopes for qualification, as they have now lost four consecutive matches in the tournament. Suriname, on the other hand, is on the verge of qualifying for its first-ever World Cup. The game's first goal was scored by Tjaronn Chery from a penalty kick in the 44th minute. In the second half, Richonell Margaret scored a brace in the 74th and 76th minutes, and Dhoraso Klas sealed the victory with a goal in the 83rd minute.
